A source of confusion around this product segment is that it lacks a universally accepted name. At various times it's called extrusion prevention, active policy management, point-of-use privacy protection, outbound content security, information leak detection and prevention, enterprise risk management, point-of-use security, content monitoring and control, data loss prevention, content filtering, messaging security (favored by vendors that focus on e-mails and IMs containing private data), and multichannel privacy protection (we just made this one up).
