Embaressed

又有人建议要 think in English (or whatever foreign language),个人曾用这个方法努力过一段不短的日子,但结果只能 think in Chinglish,脑瓜子里的不三不四。Sad

find something interesting to read, or you have to read. When I went to graduate schools, I had to read math books all in english, I had no choice. Later, when I played computer games, I had to read those manuals in english and chatted on bbs with others. Half of my english improvement was from these games. When I started working, for two years I didn't speak one chinese word(I was in a new environment and didn't know any chinese fellows around). That was my other half of improvements. I really don't know whether they were chances or fate, but I managed to drive through.

Don't try to get everything right, get 80% right(still that 80-20% rule). We are not native speakers, there is no way we can't get it right 100%, even just the articles. So maintain the 80% level, go as fast as you could, get dumb feelings, when you pass that, you get there.

In my 15 years, I've read a lot of english books, only the first ten are hard to grasp. Once you pass that, it's pretty much like chinese. I think the body reaction comes after 2 years if you work hard. I've read math, physics, computers, finance, literacy, and novels. But I don't think I could get into medical stuff, where there are a lot of latin words there. In my view, if you pass that, you are really great, that's why I think those medical/biochem students are great in english.

Smile

那天还把J2EE.Development.Without.EJB 拿出来,狂读了一会,呵呵

Too many books to mention. And the most important is your interests. Even a small branch can exhaust one's life. google and look around. Find something suites YOU - You have interest to go on, it's interactive, can be done in a reasonable way.
