我们用的应该是6.0我想，只有workflow有一个sp
我都是从image安装的，不是网络安装，我们和webMethods还不是正式的partner，以前（４.６）有一个帐号的可以网络安装，后来都被封了（包括advantage上的帐号）

“production environment”不敢说，最近做的都是demo，现在在作WF的DEMO，也不算WM的主要产品，而且WF实在问题比较多（为什么不收购个好一点的！）

现在还没有一个项目实际使用webMethods，不好推呀！国内就喜欢Portal，对了，webMethods为什么不收购一个Portal产品？说不定还好卖点！ Big Smile

6.0 and 6.01 are quite different, and I installed both, then I realized that 6.0.1 is much stable and not that memory intensive. There are some new pdf documents on Advantage and I will post them here or upload to ftp when I get a chance. I understand that WF from webMethods sucks, well, it is not the meat out of this suite anyway. I would say for Workflow/BPM, Intalio is pretty good. (www.intalio.com) Have you used OpenJMS? All developers/architects for OpenJMS are from Intalio.

Regarding Portal, webMethods doesn't have one since it is not strong in this area. Plumtree, Viador, IBM WebSphere Portal, Epicentric, ATG, Interwoven, Documentum, Hummingbird, Tibco Active Portal, BEA WL Portal, to name a few, this market is highly competitive and very low margin. In addition, Microsoft has it SharePoint. Either JSP/Servlet/Portlet or ASP.NET for these portals. webMethods, from my understanding, is simply a software company and there is quite a bit for it to improve to be a leader in this area. We used to treat people from webMethods Professional Services like shit since it is much smaller than the consulting firm I used to work for. webMethods may need to get its strategy right first in this competition.

I think the coming focus should be ERP, such as SAP, JDE, Baan, Oracle, PeopleSoft and so on in China. Well, EAI is always there... Big Smile

All,

We are using WM 6.01 in production. Most projects right now are doing file transfer and data validation. A couple of them integrate with WebLogic and Peoplesoft via adapters. We adopted webMethod laster year and still are working on build the production infrastructure for Broker and WorkFlow. As far as I know, Broker can only support redundancy via third party hardware clustering (OS clustering). That is too expensive and we are working to find some alternatives. Workflow has no redundancy support at all currently. That can cause single point of failure for mission critical applications.

That is about all my experinece. Like to know more from you guys.

webMethods comes from a hub-and-spoke architecture. 6.x is more than product consolidation and it is a truly great improvement in terms of architecture. Brokers are still sitting on broker servers, organized into territories and communicated via gateway between territories to share document types and facilitate data flows among different business units.

Your project is basically for data synchronization among app server, erp and other systems. Based on your business needs, say if you need synchronous communications only, then IS is enough, otherwise, asynchronous communication is required, then broker can come in play. Clustering from webMethods is basically software-based and doesn't give you breakthrough performance or the ability to eliminate failure points. For high-volume interfaces, you may want to use load balancers and other HA software/hardware solutions based on your platform, whether AIX or Solaris, or even Windows.

Regarding workflow implementation, it is really based on your business requirements and particularly the nature of your industry and business processes in question. Workflow solutions are focused on sequential business documents or tasks. webMethods Workflow is built on top of broker and in some situations when resource constraints are encountered, mission critical applications should not be built on top of middleware-based workflow applications. ERP-based workflow solutions should be used in this case, for example, SAP WebFlow.

Interesting points!

Regarding webMethods workflow, another better product is suggested. However, I would think it not realistic in terms of economy and technology strategy for a non-consulting company. Right now, we have a big project going on around webMethods Workflow. It is scheduled in production in August. I will share more thoughts in the future.

我在上一个workflow demo中遇到的几个问题
一、基于web的workflow,有一些bug(可能是我用的版本问题)。还有就是有一些tag不支持，用起来很不爽！
二、任务分派部分设计的余地有限，不过可以利用broker做一些加强，但需要对workflow的底层设计有一定了解。
举一个例子，一个task要分派给一个role下面的所有user，但是要求每个user只看到自己的任务队列，还有队列上限的设置。这些都不能很好的直接完成。

简单提了两个问题，第二个问题不知有没有那位有什么其他的想法？
我没怎么用过其他的workflow产品，希望有机会系统的学习这方面的知识。

I will investigate more on the issues mentioned since I'll be working on a workflow project.....will keep you posted on the second issue.
