Compare with bc4j, the Hibernate is one of those garbages. I hope I am wrong, give me a reason to invest the Hibernate a few days to learn. Thanks.

bc4j o/r is similar to hibernate, so it's more up to your interest, work requirements, and personal favor/style.

If you don't know much about hibernate, how can you say:

Compare with bc4j, the Hibernate is one of those garbages.

We have to know both in order to compare them, right?

bc4j does have a nice gui and integrated tool interface. But the underlying is not as clear as hibernate, and it has more than just o/r mapping.

There are a lot of other issues above the tool level involved, e.g., the approach to build apps, whether you want to build ddl first and then o/r mapping, or you want to do it the other way around, or meet in the middle.

Above all, a tool is just a tool. there is no tool that can do everything in all cases, or there are several tools that can do the same thing. Just a preference.

If you think bc4j is good, pick a few good points here and discuss with folks who know hibernate, there is no harm to know one more tool(have an open mind).

Personally, I don't like IBM, then Oracle. From my experience, their products are tightly coupled. The IBM consults I've met are not good developers, although their salespeople are very good. But that's just my personal exp/view. Similarly, there are a lot of folks who are in favor of different ides, wsad, jb, eclipse, idea, jcreator, and jdev. I think the most challanging problem is how to intergrate tools so they could work together, i.e., take output from one tool and send it to another.

If I need a car just for go shopping, a $500 car is OK.
If I need a car to travel the world, I prefer a new car.
Compare with the new car, I call the $500 car a trash.

I wonder how much the sound J2EE reliable application can depend on this technology? How easily I implement the business rules by this technology? How easily I can maintain the project to modify them quickly to satisfy the timely client business new rules? Does this technology give me a filling blank style programming, if not, how modern it compares with the stone age coder?

In my point, Hibernate is just like a Ferrari, it is light, fast and improvable.

bc4j is a Truck ! a big truck ! Although you can get all you need, but you need the trade off. High pay, and heavy.

Comparing with these two, who can say either one of these is a rubbish?

besides, you cannot travel the world just by a CAR.

and more, it is more valuable for a Shopping car becase it is more popular.

how often do you need to TRAVEL THE WORLD ^.^ ??
