Most of the software engineers spent uncountable time learning computer software engineering, that includes at least 4 years ( or even more) in the college to systematically study computer engineering. Since you pointed out that you need a translator to understand JAVA API, it is not acceptable. And another reason for this is that if you write comments in Chinese, nobody will read.

And by the way, there are lots of people writing software just for fun, not for a living. So if you take it that way, there is certainly no reason for you not to study JAVA. But to work as a Java software engineer as your permanent job might not be a wise idea.
