Do a search on Google or your favourite search engine, and you will find something like:
www.cafeaulait.org/course/week4/50.html (the first result by searching runnable jar on Google)
or something more interesting
http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/javatips/jw-javatip127.html

Actually this is on J2RE documentation:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/runtime.html

Then, for double-click, search again and you should be able to find

(This is to configure the "open" action of jar extension for Windows, for Linux, I don't know)
